Sweeping Light with a Broom, installation view
mixed media; printmaking, sewing, plaster, etc
This installation was a way to sort through feelings I had after my mother-in-law, Dorothy Hall, passed away.
We can share time and experiences with someone, and yet never know exactly what its like to be that person. At the same time, objects and words can hold some essence of person long after he or she is gone. Inevitably, when dealing with another person's death, we are faced with our own temporary stay in this body.
This installation is made up of clothing preserved in plaster, body prints, and sewn book pages.
