works on paper > Syncopation

I learned in this painting that gouache doesn't stick to duralar very well. Shortly after I hung the piece in the show, small sections of gouache began to peal up and flake off. Since the whole show was about syncopation, I was fine with this. It created a new pattern beyond my intentions on the painting itself, not to mention in the gathering of paint flakes on the floor below.
